Star Wars is a massively popular American epic space opera media franchise created by filmmaker George Lucas that began with the release of the groundbreaking eponymous film in 1977. The Sequel Trilogy (Episodes VII–IX): Consisting of The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017), and The Rise of Skywalker (2019).
